Some of the women in my family

Here are a few of the women in my family, starting out on a hike on Memorial Day: Drama Niece, School Teacher Niece, Blonde Niece, Red-haired Niece, my mother, and Blonde Sister. They don't know I have a blog, and I thought they would be puzzled when I asked them to pose looking away from the camera. "You are taking a picture of our hair?" my sister asked, "Even though it's been three days since any of us had a shower?" But then she shrugged and posed. They are a most cooperative group.

You come from a family of casual rock stars, jo(e)! How gorgeous they all are.

How relaxed they all look. And such beautiful hair.

Actually, Kathy, School Teacher Niece and Red-haired Niece have each already donated ten inches of hair to Locks for Love. You should have seen their hair before it got cut ....

I can't believe they leave their hair down after 3 days of not washing it, but it looks great.

I've long since wanted to join your family, and if y'all's hair looks this good after three days of no showers, that seals the deal. I so want in.

This is a great picture - I like the interlocked arms, which is a common pose for a group of friends or family members, but which you wouldn´t notice as much from the front. Very cool. :)

That's just gorgeous!

Scrivener, doesn't that make up for the quiet days?

I'm happy, Songbird. And what Pilgrim said about the interlockign arms. Funny that the requirements of a pseudonymous blog led to such a cool pic.

Ooh, I want red hair. Cool picture, and I'm very jealous that their hair looks so radiant after three days. I can't make it beyond 24 hours without going nuts.

This may be my favorite jo(e) picture yet. It's wonderful!

Oh, and for the record, some of the women in the photo did wash their hair off the dock. Blonde Sister even has this method, which she has perfected, of washing her hair using only two buckets of water. The water off the dock is a bit muddy, since we are in a marsh, but my mother claims that the mud makes your hair soft and shiny.

jo(e), you take the most beautifullest pictures! i thought of you this weekend whilst i took pictures of the marching band's feet during the memorial day parade, snaps of my kids and what was in their laps, how stark the blue and white sky was against the red brick courthouse. you're an inspiration, lady! gracias!

I like the picture, too. What a great idea to take it from the back--you're so creative, jo(e)! :-)
