First leaf

A sign that fall has begun.

  1. That's gorgeous, especially with the shadow behind the leaf and the reflection of the trees.

I can't wait for crisp fall weather!

  3. Fantastic image, but it's in the 80s here, so it doesn't feel like fall yet!!

  4. Cool image. Is that on the hood of a car?

  5. Sciencewoman: Yes, it's the hood of a dark blue car, reflecting the sky, which is a lighter blue.

  9. That is a very stunning image. The colors are prefect. Our leaves turned yucky yellow about a month ago because of a lack of rain. I don't think we will get our usual fall colors in late Oct. to early Nov.

  10. Beautiful!

And I am so jealous of your autumn. We are still decidedly experience summer. Hot, hot summer. I can't wait for autumn so we can enjoy outdoor play again!

  12. Wow. Autumn already?

We're still in the hot, but winding down stage here. People tell us that October is The Month - I'm looking forward to it!

  14. Thanks for the kind thought you dropped over at my place.

Please, please, treasure those leaves for me -- the only thing, I think, that makes me truly sad about being in England is that I will be missing a second consecutive Northeastern autumn, the natural phenomenon most in keeping with the tone of my soul (second comes the roar of the sea in winter, which I get, to my joy, to keep). Cherish, cherish, cherish it for me. And also the snow that will swiftly follow -- I don't think I'll get a proper winter, either.

  15. I'm glad you explained that the picture was taken against the hood of a car, because otherwise, except for the leaf's shadow, it made me feel dizzy and ungrounded, as if the leaf were perpetually falling.

  16. Soooo jealous! It's about another month and 1/2 before it will really feel like fall around here.

  17. I can't figure out if this is making me sad or happy.
