Snow at last

winter scene

Winter weather has returned at last to this part of the country. The ice storm earlier in the week snapped trees, sending dead scotch pines crashing down in my woods. The river birches and white pines near my house merely drooped and then sprang back into position after the ice melted a bit. The woods are quiet today, dusted with white snow, and the sky is smudged with blue as if a small child had been painting it with water colors.

Pretty, pretty, pretty. Our couple of inches hardly qualifies as snow cover.

It's about time! So will there be snowboarding this weekend?

We got hit last week too, funny how you miss the stuff when it isn't around.

Linda: Yep, all the ski centers are open. It'll be great to be back out on the slopes again.

Looks like an inviting place to disappear.

Nice photo. When are you gonna start this whole project 365 thing?

Scrivener: Oh, I don't think I take photography seriously enough to do the project 365 thing. And I don't have a good enough camera. I did recently look into buying a digital SLR but it was way too expensive. There's a limit to what you can do with a point and shoot camera.

Gorgeous! I miss the snow...

I love your photographs - quite inspiring. No snow here, only gales yesterday but they've passed.

Don't give me the ole "my camera isn't good enough" excuse. I went through the whole of Whiskerino using a simple point and shoot. You have taken a bunch of really cool pictures over the last year or so, and I bet if you tried to do 365 you'd find yourself improving as a photographer--or, more to the point, you'd get more confidence in your already existing photography skillz.

I don't know, Scrivener ... I am a writer, not a photographer. I like to take photos but I only put one up if I've got some text to go with it. If I started a 365 blog, I'd end up writing another whole blog post over there every day.

I will say that looking at everyone else's project 365 blogs has inspired me to put more photos here.
