All it takes is a garden hose

All it takes is a garden hose

The temperature went above 90 degrees today. It felt like summer, except that our trees are still bare. And with no leafy branches to shade the windows of the house, it was ridiculously hot by afternoon. My plan was to lie on the floor and complain about the heat. But then Little Biker Boy wanted to wash his bike so instead we got out the garden hose. The two little neighbor children -- as well as any unsuspecting person who stepped out the backdoor -- were soon soaking wet. I had forgotten how good it feels to get sprayed by a hose on a hot day.

That looks like fun! When I was a kid, we always ran through the sprinklers.

Great shot. Reminds me of the mid-1950s.

Apparently anytime I see a story about ultimate I now think of your blog. I'd guess your sons have an opinion on this story!

Dana - that article reminds me of a regular event at my alma mater (also in Oregon) - nude softball. Granted, it's just one game at the end of the year, but it's a tradition by this point, as is the naked slip-n-slide.

Generally onlookers outnumber participants, and the general consensus among the audience is not "ew, nudity!" but rather "ow! that looks uncomfortable."

Thanks for the link, Dana.

You know, I get why the university would want to penalize the team for underage drinking -- but playing a point naked? I can't see why that would be a big deal.

I LOVE this!! That approximates how I handle the heat, except sometimes I plan on retreating to the basement. The spiders don't bother me nearly so much as the heat, so I'm not above reading by the washer/dryer.

dana, that article slays me! the quote about so many people going to UO to play ultimate must be especially gratifying to parents and professors alike.

i'm headed to oregon friday for mom's weekend. so far as i've heard, there will be no naked-man events, possibly because the moms would all laugh and start telling terminally embarassing diaper stories.
