Weather report from Snowstorm Region

Let it snow

Last week, we had snow in almost every state, and it seems like everyone on the internet, even blog friends in the south, were posting pictures of snow. I felt like I should start taking photos of something other than the winter landscape outside my own window. After all, there's nothing particularly exciting or newsworthy about snow in this part of the country. It's the norm.

But I can't resist posting a photo anyhow.

For the record, it's not actually snowing in this photo. As you can see from the shadows, the sun is shining. About a foot of snow had fallen overnight, some of it clinging to branches. The first wind of the day is blowing snow off the branches and swirling it about my backyard.

It wasn't snowing in Oregon. There was snow on the ground in the mountains but from the sky? Even in the mountains? RAIN. Like, torrential rain, Biblical rain, the kind of rain which causes new lifeforms to sprout in one's ski boots.

I've skiid in the rain before but it was freezing rain. This was just rain. It was very weird.

Your yard however looks beautiful!

Jennifer: Rain? That does seem weird.

Come to think of it, lots of the "snow" photos I saw last week looked more like freezing rain and ice than snow ....

I want to live in snowstrom city. I love the snow and love the ice. Where I live, NWArkansas, we get some ice and a little snow, but not nearly enough for me. I want to live where snow really falls and winter really gets cold and humidity during the summer won't suffocate me. I want to pitch a tent in your backyard and live there. Or, you could adopt me…well, that'd be a problem. Or, I could adopt you and you could move me in as a parent that you are taking care of. Well, I don't actually need taking care of and am probably not old enough to be a parent. Shoot. I guess I will stay here in NWArkansas and complain about the lack of winter weather. Your photo is beautiful.

I love that combination of snow and sunshine.

Zelda 1: Don't be so sure the humidity here won't suffocate you in summer. It will.
