Time for friendship

seventhlake

We'll climb a mountatin on Saturday, a long hike that will include finding a rock in the sun where we can sit lazily, admire the bright foliage, and talk. We might walk a labyrinth. If it gets warm enough, we'll go skinny dipping.

We'll eat and drink, talking furiously at every meal. We'll have a full moon ceremony. Definitely, there will be wild dancing. Some of us will talk late into the night, like teenagers at a pajama party. Perhaps by morning, bras will dangle at the hearth.

I'm off to the mountains again, this time with a group of women friends. We do this every year. We leave partners, kids, and work to spend a weekend together. Because winter will come soon, and we have to enjoy this wonderful fall weather. And because we all think that time spent nurturing ourselves and our friendships is time well spent.

I wish you would write sometime about how this group of friends came together, how the rituals developed, etc. I know I'm not the only one craving this sort of thing, missing it in my own life. I do know better than to think it's the sort of thing that can be made into a formula and replicated, but I'm trying to think through how I can cultivate it, instead of just longing for it to happen.

Linda: Write a post about friendships and how they form? That's an interesting challenge. I will definitely think about it. I tend to be kind of intuitive when it comes to these things, so I will have to stop and analyze myself. I have several groups of close friends so I guess I could analyze the dynamics of each group to see what the groups have in common.

Sidenote: I hate blogger. The comments have been weird lately. This is the fourth time I've tried to leave a comment on my own blog. ERGH!

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm asking for, though I'm not entirely sure myself. I guess I just find these posts about your friends and what you all do to care for each other always leave me longing. I'm just wondering what, if anything, I can do about that, and thought maybe more about how you all came to do what you do would help me think that through.

Hmmmm, I like the idea of you blogging about friendship. But really, I stopped by to say that every time I drop by, my blood pressure goes down about 10 points. Beautiful post, beautiful pictures. I've been missing this.

I am a Spanish reader. I love your photographies and the landscapes. Do you live there? You are very lucky, you live in the paradise!

This is one of my favorite things to do. My friends and I are off for our week-end at the beginning of November.
