Almost naked

Almost naked

During the flurry of emails that went back and forth before we took this trip to Country Shaped Like Footwear, I reminded my four traveling companions that one of them would need to pose naked for my blog. Each member of my family tried to shove this important responsibility onto someone else. Red-haired Sister said she thought the couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (that is, my parents) should offer to pose in honour of the occasion. Urban Sophisticate Sister said she didn't want to pose naked but she volunteered Red-haired Sister. My father said something like, "You've got to be kidding." My mother said nothing at all. The level of enthusiasm, the consideration for my readers, the respect for the tradition of naked blogging — well, it was remarkably low.

So yesterday morning, when Urban Sophisticate Sister got out of the shower and stepped out onto the balcony of the hotel in Italian Seaside Town to see how warm the weather was before she figured out what clothes to put on, I decided to take advantage of the moment. I grabbed my camera. "Hey, Urban Sophisticate, " I said. "Just take off your towel for a minute." She looked at me, looked down at the street where enthusiastic soccer fans had come marching through the night before, and said, "I'm leaving on the towel." She added, as she looked off at the gathering storm clouds, "And you better take it fast."

Fabulous portrait! Perfect subject in the perfect setting. Another masterpiece for that city.

it is a fabulous portrait, and I hope that you relay to U.S.S. that the towel draped around her and her hair flowing down her back were a perfect match for the city you are in and she looks beautiful.

Dooood. I have no respect for the tradition of naked blogging. None. Nada. Zip. Just so you know in advance.

(It is a beautiful photo, though.)

I have total respect. You can take a picture of my naked son. :)

Actually, I think I'd pose for your blog. But you'd have to guarantee the magic that makes eveyone seem so beautiful when you photograph them!

Nice shot anyway. Very nice.
I do think, though, that Red-haired Sister has a point. Although I am pretty sure my dad's response would've been much the same as your dad's.

Phantom, that's why I have a dog.

I love the way you managed this, jo(e), I wondered how you would.

That is a beautiful picture - and all the naked portraits have always been tastefully done.

However, my guess is, in your family, that no one is particularly surprised that you are asking that knowing WHO you are as only family members do.

How come you don't have any Reubenesque folks posing?

You are a talented photographer. It is interesting to see how creativity can transcend genres.

Do you write poetry, too?

She looks lovely in her towel.

Gawdess: Oh, Urban Sophisticate Sister reads my blog so she will see your comment.

Phantom: (Laughing.) I thought when I posted this that it might make you nervous to see the tradition continuing ....

Cathy: These aren't paid modeling gigs. I don't get to choose the models. I am happy to photograph all body types, but I need volunteers. Or some Reubenesque friends who could be coerced.

Rev Dulce: Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I do write poetry. It's funny that you'd guess that.

"i don't get to choose the models." oh, RIGHT. if i'm not mistaken, you have been able to persuade [tr: coerce] every single model into posing by arguing they won't be recognized, the private bits won't be shown, have some more wine, and/or don't you support tradition? aren't you my friend? my SISTER?

speaking as a somewhat over-endowed and less-young person, jo(e) can count on naked-cat photos from me. [kudos to songbird.]

kathy a: Why, that sounds like you are receptive to posing. When you going to be in my part of the country next?

About dang time you posted something besides gorgeous water shots, crumbling buildings and hot gondoliers. Tell your sister she fits right in the I've Posed Nekkid for Jo(e) [No Longer So Exclusive) Club.
