I think it was a cat who brought the bird in originally -- through the cat door in the basement. But then after the bird escaped, the cats ignored it. Rogue was lying on the kitchen table while that cat was flying around the kitchen, and she didn't even move.
Actually, the cat flying around the kitchen is close. You had a Gray Catbird in your kitchen. I love them - slightly whiny at times, but their mimicry of sounds around them can be quite good. Even though they are less colorful than other birds of summer, they have a surprisingly beautiful rust-colored patch under their tails. And I like their jaunty little black caps. What an indoor treat!

Oops! I meant "while the bird was flying around the kitchen."
It's clearly a juvenile bird, but I'm having trouble identifying it? Grackle? Starling?
a little crowling.
You should put your worms away in the fridge instead of leaving them lying around on the counters.
