Time to dance

Bellydancing

Too much time sitting at my desk, grading papers and writing letters of recommendations, is just not healthy for me. When I am feeling miserable, I need to put on my boots to go hike in the woods -- or strip naked to feel the sun on my skin. Or sometimes, I put on my pantaloons, pick up my zills, crank up the music, and dance.

Video blogging! Video blogging!

(I'm going to keep asking these dancing fools to do it until someone does!)

You look fab, by the way.

Wow. Splendid photo; who snapped that one?

KathyR: I haven't learned how to videoblog yet. Someone asked me for a photo of my pantaloons last January when I wrote about belly dancing, and I am just now posting this photo.

Jane Dark: I used the timer and set the camera on a bookshelf. No way would any of my teenage boys consent to taking a photo of Mom bellydancing ....

Last week of school here. Exams. Lots of papers to grade. Yearbook deadline overdue (photographer's disk of class pictures ran late). I can feel cricks and kinks in every part of my body, and I'm cranky because I don't have time to write anything that matters.

Thanks for setting a good example :->.

Dancing is good for the soul, isn't it? so are the woods.

Wow--what a great photo. And as always I am impressed by the balance of your life: interesting work, but so much more interesting ways to nurture yourself and your soul and your body.

damn, woman! you are a hottie! I need to learn dancing that makes me look like you. :)

I'm glad you have good releases. I should search for more myself.

I love dancing and I love dancing to Middle Eastern music. My husband is from Iran but lived in Turkey for many years. Turkish music is the ultimate dance music.

My parents Thai exchange student downloaded some Thai dance music and it's really awesome, too.

Joe, you are too hot! You look great, woman.

First, I have to say HOLY SHIT woman! You are one hot mama! Wow! You look incredible!

Second, I missed that you belly danced. I am seriously wanting to take it up myself. I love dancing and have trained in a couple different forms, but not belly dancing. I'm really wanting to try it. Any suggestions on how to track down a good teacher? Or even a fun beginner's DVD?

ABDMom: I take belly dancing at a yoga place so any yoga center might be the first place to try. A good DVD to practice with is _Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing_ with Rachel Brice. I would definitely recommend taking a class and learning with other women -- it is so much fun.

You are one hot lady. I wish I had a smidgeon of your incredibly zestful personality!

It's fun hanging out on a personal blog with mostly women, because people can say things like "you are one hot lady." There are several political and professional blogs I can think of where it is simply inappropriate to blurt that out about the blog mistress, no matter how true it is.

The cold here is making my joints all creaky. If I tried to dance, it would sound like someone walking across a sheet of bubble wrap.

See, I've been so crazy busy this semester that I just stopped going to my belly dancing classes--BIG mistake. I can't wait to start up again in January. V. good for the soul (and a hell of a lot of fun :).

So much sitting at the computer can cause my body to actually hurt. I put on Ziggy Marley and loosened up just yesterday. It's good positive music/lyrics too.
