Sneaking away

I've tossed some books and clothes in the car, and I'm leaving the house while everyone else is still asleep. I'll be driving through miles of farmland until I arrive at the monastery, a cluster of buildings set high in the hills. I'll be spending the summer solstice on retreat, surrounded by farmland and woods, monks and sheep, sunshine and birdsong.

Knowing you are there in peace turns my moment into a monastery.

I'm already missing you and your lovely pictures and stories. Hope you have a perfect retreat!

jo(e), you have no idea how jealous I am! Sounds wonderful - though I had hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire with my daughter tonight, so things aren't all bad here either.

You're so lucky. I'm spending my time writing my thesis, studying for world lit comps, and editing a book that will be published in my name. But all that is work and I want fun and slow and nice. Have fun and I hope you take lots of pictures.
