February

February

Yes, it’s still February. It’s the toughest month for the cats of the household, because they get tired of having to stay in, but it’s too cold and icy for them outside. So they leap from windowsill to windowsill. They meow and scratch and demand to go outside and then meow to be let right back in. And they pee on random things to show their displeasure. The humans in the household aren’t much better. It’s a very long month.

You mean it's not just my cat that does this during February? He acts like I made it cold and icy outside just to be mean to him. I'm never so glad for enzymatic cleaner as I am in February.

When I turned to the February page in my kitchen calendar--a very bright and cheery Sandra Boynton graphic--I thought of you, Dar Williams' February song, bread baking, valentine sugar cookies, and you. May much love, food, and friends near and far sustain you in the season.

Yeah Feb is not the month for me. Never liked it and it seems so long even though it is short. Grant you up here we have not gotten much snow. Are you keeping it from us?

I, too, have been known to pee on random things when particularly irritated.

Geez, my cats seem to have the opposite reaction. First, they sit at the window, and then look back at us like, "what did you do to the out?!?!

Then, they curl up on our bed for about 65 straight hours, occasionally lifting their heads as if to say, "surely, you're not going out in THAT?"

Thanks, Susan.

Silver Creek Mom: We have had less snow than usual here too. It's weird.

Brightened Boy: I laughed aloud at your comment.

Landismom: I *wish* my cats were like that.

I think all of your snow is here in the Mid-Atlantic. We will gladly give it back. We're not equipped for this kind of weather! :)

I know February gives you the blues. Some year you should take a trip to the REAL home of the Blues in February-we're staring Spring in the face!

Sending hugs.
