When I visited Little Biker Boy in the hospital last Friday, he was already out of bed and walking around, although a bit unsteady on his feet. The surgeon had taken some bone out of his hip to repair his cleft palate, an operation that was long overdue. His face was swollen, and his walking painful, but the surgery had gone well, and everyone was pleased at how quickly he was recovering.
When I visited him yesterday evening at his foster home, he was back to his usual self. Well, he was supposed to still be taking it easy, but for Biker Boy that just means walking instead of running. He did sit still long enough to play a couple games of cards with me. Then we went out into the backyard to play with his remote control car. His foster mother is a nurse who is taking good care of him, and he’s healing in all kinds of ways.

So much love for biker boy. So glad he's healing :)
This warms my heart.
Smiling.
That's really good news, Jo(e). Karma owes you a big one for helping watch over him and being a caring adult in his life.
he’s healing in all kinds of ways.
Hallelujah.
I hope he knows how many people he has who love him and pray for him, even if we haven't met him in person.
Wonderful!
Such good news!
fantastic!
Huh. Sometime in the last 24 hours I thought, I wonder how Little Biker Boy is doing. Thanks for the update, and what a world this is in which we live and move and have our being...
It's funny-- I was also just thinking of Little Biker Boy today. I was listening to The Mountain Goats' "The Sunset Tree" and thought about how people can come through and heal from hard childhoods like John Darnielle's, and like Little Biker Boy's, and can blossom sometimes into such amazing adults. I was thinking about how when you see people around and about- on the street, at work-- you don't know what they've been through to get there, and when you meet kids going through hard times, you don't know where they're going to go with it. And I was wondering where Little Biker Boy is going to go with his life. There are a lot of us out there thinking about him and pulling for his continued healing.
Keep thinking about the John Cheese articles over at Cracked, this one this week,

jo(e), he is fortunate to have you around.
I'm so glad that he has a good foster mom (and you). And that the cleft palate has been taken care of. My husband had his surgery done about 50 years ago and the doctor did a great job. Now the surgery results are even better. It should make Little Biker Boy a happier child.
Glad to hear he is healing...in many ways. I'm also do glad for your continued presence in his life!
that is such good news...
