Happy holidays

Little red barn

At my parents' house yesterday, I looked the window to their backyard, to my father's snow-covered garden and little red barn that served long ago as a stable for an appaloosa horse. It looked like a holiday photo. I was thinking that I should put on my boots and go out outside with my camera.

Then I glanced at my parents' computer and noticed that the desktop photo was the scene that I was planning on shooting. My father had already taken the photo.

"Hey, email me that photo for my blog," I said.

My father looked at his computer and shrugged, "Okay."

Then I sat back down by the fire with a hot cup of tea.

What is that thing in front of the line of bushes, over next to the trees at the right?

Is it one of those sculpture/ ducks made out of wire? Or is it a frozen duck? Hope not!

We had some birds freeze in a river here in WI. At least that's what one of the bus drivers told me. He said the river froze and the birds must have fallen asleep in the night. Nature is cruel sometimes. :(

It's a crane, welded out of sheet metal. Red-haired Sister and I got it for the Japanese garden many years ago.

Tie-dye Bro-in-law: Hey! Who're you, somebody she hired to write the blog while she lounges in the Comfy Chair bloated with Ch'mas surfeit? If so, where's today's post?

FA - I guess she skipped X-mas day. Too bad; I was dying to post the "best quote of the evening"...

Tie-dye Brother-in-law: Okay, now I'm wondering what the best quote of the evening was ....

That award has to go to Red-haired Niece, who announced, "I have wiener in my holes".

(The poor dear had had her wisdom teeth removed, and perhaps should have avoided the cocktail wieners...)

P.S. I initially wrote "weiner", but Mozilla flagged that as misspelled. I should have gone with my instincts...
